HIV Vaccine Trial Begins in South Africa

INTERNASIONAL - Researchers say a new vaccine against the HIV virus will be tested in South Africa, this week.

As reported by AP, Sunday (11/27/2016), this experiment raises hope for overcoming the threat of the deadly virus.

Anthony Fauci, director of a government agency in the US, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), in a statement called the new vaccine is indeed encouraging.

Launching called HVTN 702 vaccine will be carried out next Wednesday.

The initial step is to register 5,400 men and women with active sexual life in the age range 18-35 years, in 15 locations across South Africa.

Thus, this project will be the largest and most advanced in the effort to stem the spread of this virus in South Africa.

Data shows, in South Africa, every day there are more than 1,000 people infected with the HIV virus.
