INSPIRATION ... - More than 200 million women and girls have undergone female circumcision.

This practice has been banned in several countries in Africa, but not in Sierra Leone. In fact, circumcisers in the country is still proud of their profession. Memunatu Turay, one of them.

"I've been circumcised hundreds of girls," said Memunatu Turay with pride.

"But I can not tell you exactly how I run this ancient tradition, unless you join the community of our secrets," he said.

Memunatu Turay revealed that the BBC journalist who interviewed him.

A big smile on his face when he saw the look on the face of the fear of the reporter.

"Come with me," he said. "I can circumcise you, and so I can tell you what you need to know."

Memunatu clearly enjoying the conversation, and finally he burst out laughing.

The interview took place at his home in a slum in the western part of Freetown.

"He was circumcised and behold, he was fine, he's getting a decent education," said Memunatu, with his face beaming.

The 56-year-old woman showed a warm nature and fierce simultaneously.

She prides herself by saying she was one of the most reliable circumcisers.

He has many patients -or 'soweis' as they call it in Sierra Leone, throughout Freetown.

"It is an ancient tradition and great," he said firmly.

"We did not hurt the girls, I would never hurt them. And it is not just about circumcision alone. We teach them how to be a wife, cook, and clean up," he said.

"We have big parties for the initiation, where we dance and sing, and have fun."

The story is like a testimony circumcisers in Kenya who spoke last July. The practice was banned in the country since 2011.

One former circumcisers agree to demonstrate what he used to do on girls.

Friends of clutching wrists, then crossed tightly across the chest of women to be circumcised. She was then pulled to the floor outside the cottage.

Professional circumcisers in Freetown that prides itself on it telling the BBC he received about one million Leones (about Rp2.4 million) for every girl she circumcised.

In a country where two-thirds of the people live in poverty, circumcisers turned out to be quite a lot of money.

What about the pain and trauma resulting from circumcision? And cases of death?

Memunatu admitted to not having experiences like that.

"Everything is a lie," he said.

"This is good for women. One man is not enough for a woman who has not been circumcised," he continued.

"But when he was initiated, he becomes sexually satisfied and loyal to one man alone," he continued.

Memunatu BBC then asked what he would do if the government prohibits this practice.

"We will protest against the offices of the president," he shouted.

"They know this is an important tradition. Many of them are in our secret society."

After touting about injustice, he drew a deep breath.

"If they want us to stop, they have to find something else for us to do. If you want to wean the baby should be given milk replacement, right?" he said.
