PBNU Can Not Prohibit Demo, But Call Friday Prayers In The Street Unauthorized

NASIONAL - the chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama Said Aqil Siradj claimed NU can not forbid people to do a demonstration on 2 December.

However, he suggested Muslims who do not want to protest the Friday Prayers Worship along Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin Protocol or on other roads.

He affirmed that the prayers in the street is not valid.

Said Aqil said, even when there is no longer a mosque to perform Friday prayers due to natural disasters, for example, Muslims are still not allowed to pray in the street.

Instead Muslims perform noon prayers enough.

In addition to not impact on the validity of prayer, Said Aqil also confirmed, praying in the street could disturb people who are doing the activity.

Said Aqil claimed, NU is ready to help the police to secure the demonstration that was held on December 2, if requested.
