INTERNASIONAL - Chen Si (48), a regular guy who worked in the logistics company, has been doing the real action in the prevention of suicide. In the past 13 years, Chen noted had rescued 321 people who attempted suicide in the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, China.

Every weekend, Chen Si deliberately approached the bridge. To get to the bridge, Chen riding an electric scooter as far as 20 km from his home. No matter it is raining or too hot, Chen still come there.

Every time I see someone trying to commit suicide, Chen will try talking to the person to stop suicidal thoughts.

Not just to talk, Chen even grabbed the hand or hug people who attempted suicide in order not to jump from the bridge.

Chen action since 2003 it was considered extremely heroic. Until finally moved many people to join the volunteer suicide prevention together with Chen. In fact, Chen also provides a bedroom near the bridge when people are depressed it needs a place to cool down.

"I've become one of them," said Chen. Chen told, most people who attempt suicide are immigrants who are desperate to life in the city.

They are embarrassed to go back to my hometown so choose to commit suicide. Chen has ever experienced a hard time to be a seller of vegetables.

"When my life for the better, I want to help others find hope," said Chen.

Nanjing itself is one of the most famous bridges in China which was built in 1968. The bridge is often a place of suicide attempts.

They committed suicide by jumping from the bridge elevation of about 60 meters from the river flowing underneath.

The data show, more than 2,000 people who attempted suicide on the bridge since 1968 to 2006.
